Prague publishes new ban on gamblingThe Czech government has promoted and successfully passed another decree that prohibits the use of gaming terminals, slots, Lotteries (video) in the capital.

After a long consultation with the Prague city administration, this ban has a pending implementation and will come into force as early as next year. However, the broad scope of the new bill does not extend to live casino games, so gambling enthusiasts can find a little fun in slightly different disciplines.

The authorities do not approve

Hana Kordová Marvanová (City Councilor of the Prague Administration) confirms that the loss in tax revenues to the budget will not be so significant and will be fully compensated by other areas. Thus, only the owners of gambling establishments themselves and their staff will bear the damage from the impending restrictions. At the moment, the profits from gambling are used to finance educational, cultural and sports projects in different parts of the city.

Normal regulation of activities in the gambling business is a rather big problem, since it is difficult to find a worthy solution that will carry the freedom of decision-making and business development. On the other hand, this kind of prohibition helps people with pathological problems, whose quality of life suffers from gambling.

Parties to the conflict

Discussion of various aspects of the gambling business is actively conducted in the territory of Prague. The main problems are considered to be increased crime, tax evasion, and black bookkeeping. The advantages of having a casino are not taken seriously. It is not the first time in the city that actions have been launched to suppress the gambling business. A restriction on the venue was introduced relatively recently.

The number of operating casinos in the city is around 100. Over the past 10 years, the range of entertainment offered by them has decreased almost 4 times. Most of the administrative districts of the city of Prague have expressed their dissatisfaction with the gambling business. Few of them voted for continued normal operation and white light for live play in tourist areas.
