Behind the Scenes of Indigo Magic: Crafting Gaming Wonders
Questions and Answers
🔵 What makes Indigo Magic from Bragg Studios different from other studios in the Bragg portfolio and its competitors?
The games we produce are primarily targeted toward European players, and the sensible approach to design and mechanics is where we really stand out. We take elements that are popular in Europe as well as North America and create different math models for the two regions as player preferences differ widely. The team is unique and we’re laser-focused on our objective which is quality. Our people work remotely for us to build a highly experienced and diverse team with the best skills and experiences. This allows us to consider different global trends and styles in game design, ranging from themes to mechanics to features.
Our experience allows us to work faster and smarter. We’re approaching our first year as a business, and the growth has been phenomenal. The way we move from ideation to final approval is iterative, creative and demanding - and not to forget - fun. We’re currently releasing one game per month, with an exciting roadmap ahead.
🔵 Any special insights about the game creation process and market differences as you look at Europe vs the U.S. etc.?
There certainly are differences in market trends and designs. We keep the creative and design process consistent, which allows us to deliver on time and collaborate with other stakeholders effectively. It’s hard to pinpoint a specific mechanic that will work in Europe, as the experience varies vastly across the different regions. We do however see cross-pollination of trends between Europe and the U.S. Will those be accepted by them? Some certainly resonate more than others. Mathematical designs may vary depending on the game, should we feel the design needs changing for the U.S. or vice versa.
🔵 What has the biggest hit been, and why do you think it was so successful?
Game Sea of Plenty was our debut release last year, and we are incredibly proud of it as it’s been performing well. It’s a loveable theme with cute characters and fantastic gameplay that gives players a great first impression of who we are. The wins inside the game, with free spins and respins are entertaining, and the respins offer a massive 5,000x Grand prize payout. The game was recently released in the U.S. following a successful period in Europe and it continues to see growth there which is very encouraging.
🔵 You are creating an environment to produce great games. Could you tell us anything about how you built the team?
The team must have time to be creative, and we do this together but remotely. I believe that we should take time to have fun with an idea and to be honest with each other if something doesn’t work but also have transparent conversations about something that team members feel might work. Yes, we’re in different locations, but this doesn’t detract from our ability to function as a team. I’m usually bouncing off the walls when we have a creative session/planning meeting and lock things in - it’s such a buzz.
🔵 What are you most proud of?
The quality of our games. We’ve taken a few leaps along the way and the foundations are set for further growth in 2024. Our creative games form part of setting these standards and this month’s release of Book of Blackeye’s Bounty is a nice example of that. The game takes the most popular online mechanic and transforms it into a more rewarding and diverse game, equipped with stellar art and animations. We expect great results from this game release.
🔵 A part of your DNA is also innovation. Can you tell us more about the special features you are developing?
We recently created a new industry mechanic called Pop ‘N Split. The feature was first introduced in our most recent release Carts of Cash. It selects a symbol, then ‘pops’ it out big on the screen. The space then divides into four spaces, and each spins individually. Once all four spaces are filled with cash prizes, the highest value is duplicated across the remaining three. The ‘popped out’ frame then returns to the original space, so the player now has 4x the highest cash value waiting to be collected at the end of respins. We are very happy with this feature as it showcases the creativity of the team.
Another thing to mention is Fuze™, Bragg’s state-of-the-art set of gamification and engagement toolsets, designed to enhance the player experience and boost online casino operator KPIs. Combining innovative features and gamification makes our games more engaging which clearly shows in results.
🔵 What feedback was received from operators, streamers, and players?
The feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive, and we managed to get our games included and released on some big industry players, s.a. Betsson and many others. We are currently working on deployments with some of the biggest casinos but are also increasing our focus on the North American market. We can see in terms of positioning and player numbers that the games have been accepted well, by both the operators and players (who are returning and gravitating back to our games), but we have also seen an uplift in our games being streamed and highlighted across many affiliate channels as of early 2023. (A nice example of that would be Phoenix Fury!).
🔵 What is cooking right now? What should we expect?
We’ve raised the bar in 2023. We’re completing our games for the 2023 roadmap, currently wrapping up in December, which will see us launch a new arcade game, Mighty Marlin. It’s our first title in this category of games and we’re excited to venture into the arcade space. It’s been such a fun process, and more titles are completed and waiting to go! We’re also adding another new category to our games portfolio which is close to being finalised and leverages sports betting. Indigo Magic will be a force to be reckoned with in 2024.
