Casinos in France to Reopen on December 15th
France is set to reopen its land-based casinos from December the 15th. The news comes after an extended second lockdown. The trade union for French casinos has stated the significance of reopening these casinos for the industry and the wider economy. The lockdown was originally set to last until December 1st but was extended, only allowing the essential business to stay open. This second lockdown first came into force on October the 30th.
Restrictions Set to Continue
The procedure to reopen casinos in France has been developed by Casino de France to open them safely and remain within the pandemic regulations. The union continued to reiterate the importance of reopening due to the economic impact.
The casino industry is directly responsible for approximately 15,000 jobs and indirectly employs three times that number. Every year, the sector contributes £1.2bn in taxes.
There are a few tweaks to this reopening with stricter restrictions set to be imposed. Capacity will be more tightly managed and customers will need to register before entering premises. This will help to trace and complies with the General Data Protection Regulations.
French Casinos will need to use TousAntiCovid to trace and measure the temperature of anyone who wants to enter. The interior of casinos will also be disinfected regularly to promote cleanliness and reduce the risk of infection.
Previous Reopening of Casinos in France
The first wave of casino closure occurred at the start of the year and only reopened in June. There were stringent protocols including disinfecting regularly, placing up physical barriers, and using masks. Those same preventative measures will continue this time around.
