Today, BetStars, an online betting part of The Stars Group, has publicly announced that Andrew Lee will replace the former Managing Director, Zeno Ossko.
Lee, accepting the new position, will practically take over the performance, direction and growth strategies of the online betting company. He will be based at the official Headquarters of the Stars Interactive Group, on the Isle of Man.
Andrew as a veteran in the gaming industry has experience as a Managing Director of William Hill Online from the middle of 2012 to the beginning of 2016. He has also been an Interim Head of William Hill Online’s Mobile sector before becoming the Managing director of Will Hill.
Back at William Hill, Lee was responsible from
the daily operations and the strategic direction of the online business. He can, in fact, take full credit for William Hill becoming a leader in the gaming industry and marking quite the growth in the net gaming revenue.
Just before he got his post at BetStars, from the middle of 2016 to
the middle of 2017, he was the president of WorldRemit, a money service company focused on disrupting the traditional offline international remittance market.
Lee has previously worked in the financial markets in senior analyst and sales roles focusing on the hospitality, entertainment and gaming industries for several firms including Dresdner Kleinwort, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Jefferies International.
Ossko is expected to hand over the position to Lee at the end of January so that Lee will succeed him and continue leading the company to new achievements.
Rafi Ashkenazi, the CEO of The Stars Group, announced Andrew Lee’s appointment: “Andy is an experienced operator with proven credentials of developing an industry-leading online and mobile sportsbook.
“We expect his appointment will help us achieve our aim of developing our sports betting business into a strong secondary customer acquisition channel to our leading poker business, improve its market share in our top European markets, and prepare it for future geographic expansion.
“I want to thank Zeno for his nurturing of BetStars into an emerging pan-European sportsbook, a period in which we recorded strong growth in players, engagement and wagering.”
To that, Andrew Lee added: “I’m looking forward to helping The Stars Group achieve its sportsbook goals by continuing to grow and develop its customers’ experience, reach, and market share within the exciting and growing global gaming market.”
Compared to this, two years ago, Rafi Ashkenazi welcomed Ossko as well: “Zeno is the right person to lead BetStars into the future,” Ashkenazi said of the new appointment. “His experience leading a portfolio of online and retail gaming products and the development and roll-out of an omni-channel sports betting product will help position BetStars for continued product improvement and growth.
"He is a strong addition to our experienced executive management team.”
