governor of the US state of Nevada, Brian Sandoval proved the assignment of Becky Harris (Republican member of the Nevada Senate) as a Chairwoman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, and with this assignment governor Sandoval is turning Becky Harris into the first woman to rule with this position since the organization was established over 60 years ago.
The chairwoman of the Nevada State GCB and a Republican Senator for Nevada since 2015, Becky Harris coming on duty after ex Nevada State GCB Chairman A.G. Burnett which was appointed to the position of Chairman of the Nevada State GCB by Governor Sandoval in January 2011 before he was renewed for a second four-year term in January 2015, however, he resigns to continue to the private sector in law firm.
The new elected chairwoman Harris was born in Provo, Utah. She graduated with a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in 1989, with a Juris Doctor degree in 1992, with a master's degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2000, and with a LL.M. in Gaming Law and Regulation from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2016.After she proceeding with practicing law at Jeremy Kirschner & Associates PLLC in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She is a former member of Democratic Party in the United States, and as Democratic, she has unsuccessfully run for the lower house Nevada Assembly, of the Nevada Legislature, the state legislature of the US state of Nevada.
However, about her party switch, Harris said, "I just evolved and became very fiscally conservative as we began to employ people and take care of other people’s families and looked at what that cost in providing benefits for people and all that kind of thing.”
She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Harris in the moment works as treasurer of the National Council of Legislators from the Gaming States in the US and a lot of organizations in Clark Country.
Regarding the election of Harris, Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval said: “Nevada’s gaming regulatory structure is the best in the world and it is imperative that the public servants who serve on this commission are beyond reproach and willing to make difficult decisions.
“Becky has served her community as an elected official and worked to pass legislation which codified the e-gaming decision made by the Gaming Policy Committee which authorized e-gaming competitions, helped spur innovation in gaming, and ensured Nevada remain on the forefront of new opportunities in one of our state’s oldest industries. I am confident she will continue to serve with distinction and integrity.”
The new chairman of Becky Harris Nevada Gaming Control Board added: “To be appointed to the finest regulatory system in the world is a tremendous responsibility. I am grateful for the trust and confidence Governor Sandoval has placed in me. I am committed to serving with determination and honor.
“I will miss serving in the Nevada State Senate and working for the constituents in District 9, but my public service to the citizens of Nevada will certainly go on in this new full-time role.”
