New electronic Self-Exclusion System in Paddy Power shops
The UK and Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has introduced a new self- digital exclusion scheme for its shops all around the UK and later in Ireland. The new self-exclusion system will replace the existing current paper-based system.
The product was developed by Responsible Gambling Consultancy Ltd and designed especially for the Paddy Power betting shops referring consumer’s self-exclusion status.
The new system makes the process of image identification very simple via Android and iOS tablet stores. The system also provides instant consumer’s contact information which should be distributed automatically in the area to up ten brand’s betting shops.
The multi-operator self – exclusion scheme should allow the consumer just with a single call to self-exclude from more than one operator and also from several betting shop locations.
In the same time, the operators could stand by their commitment to help and protect the people.
The new electronic system was installed by all shops in the English province of Kent before the national roll-out.
The self-exclusion system will be officially entered in the UK betting shops by June 2018 and it will be set up in Ireland betting shops by the end of the year.
The Managing Director of Retail at Paddy Power, David Newton introducing the new process said that the product will provide quick support for consumers who like to be self-excluded. The high priority agenda of the new digital system is to make self-exclusion easier and quicker for the customers and Mr. Newton hopes that the other betting operators will join in providing the same service in their gambling shops.
What is self- exclusion?
A process when a consumer asks gambling operator to exclude him from gambling for a longer time, usually from six months to five years is called self-exclusion. This option of self-exclusion must be provided by the operators in the UK and in practice, the gamer should be rejected by the operator in the venues where the gamer has been self-excluded.
Currently existing self-exclusion option
The needs of self-exclusion option in the gambling industry in the UK is unavoidable.
The existing self-exclusion module MOSES was inserted in March 2016 and covers all betting shops. The currently self-exclusion option - Moses get critics as not enough effective, so the UK Gambling Commission at the end of 2017 announced intention to take some moves for making the better electronic system of self-exclusion, in order to help in reducing gambler’s problems or to stop their gambling activities.
The UK gambling industry is expecting a special digital self-exclusion system called GAMSTOP in 2018. The online self-exclusion system includes set of measures that will protect the gambling addicts from placing wagers in betting sides and online casino.
