We sat down with Liz Bann, CEO at Foxium to explore the studio’s unique approach to game design and development.

What sparked the idea to create a slot dedicated to ancient Rome, and how does it stand out in the vast sea of games?

Rome Fight for Gold Deluxe is a sequel to the predecessor, Rome Fight for Gold, which we released in January 2023. We know this theme is popular in our core markets, and there was a gap in our portfolio, so it was a no-brainer. The prequel quickly became a hit across the network, and we received requests for a sequel, and voila, a year later we saw the Deluxe version.

Since its release earlier this year, Rome Fight for Gold Deluxe has become our most iconic video slot; it has outperformed in a big way. I think this is down to the game’s mechanics, rich graphics, and immersive sound. A large appeal lies in the simplicity and thrill of the Collect feature. There is a constant flow of coins going to the cups above the reels, and this delivers the excitement of when a cup will randomly hit to deliver a bonus game. It’s an engine we will certainly be doing more with!

In Rome Fight for Gold Deluxe, we give players the chance to enjoy a fuller view of the packed Colosseum, from a private box, surrounded by crowds, columns, and a truly immersive atmosphere.

All the familiar symbols and our hero Roman Gladiator remain, so it was an obvious choice to ramp up the excitement with more bonus games that each deliver the same maximum win potential. The game has now been live for over two months, and we are thrilled to see our hard work has paid off as it continues to be one of the best-performing games this year!

Integrating compelling character design is paramount to the success of many of our titles, as well as the seamless incorporation of standout mechanics. What else can we expect from Foxium in the coming months?
